The French Revolution (French: Révolution française)was
a period of radical social and political upheaval in France
from 1789 to 1799 that profoundly affected French and modern history,
marking the decline of powerful monarchies and churches and the rise of democracy and nationalism.
Popular resentment of the privileges enjoyed by the clergy
and aristocracy grew amidst an economic crisis
following two expensive wars and years of bad harvests,
motivating demands for change.

Historians until the late 20th century emphasized class conflicts from a largely Marxist perspective.
Its central theme was the Revolution was caused by the rising bourgeoisie,
with support from the sans-culottes,
who fought to destroy the aristocracy.

By the 1990s the Marxist class interpretation had largely been abandoned among scholars.
However, historians continue to emphasize the economic and fiscal crises of the Old regime.
The economy was not healthy; poor harvests, rising food prices,
and an inadequate transportation system
made food even more expensive.
The sequence of events leading to the revolution
included the national government's fiscal troubles
caused by an inefficient tax system and expenditure on numerous large wars.

.."Conservative society requires esthetic liberalism whereas, liberal society requires esthetic conservativism."
.. Karl Marx (1818-83).
'사회가 진보로 가면 예술은 보수로 가고, 사회가 보수로 가면 예술은 진보로 간다" ' Production and Consumption'; Marxism and Art: writings in Aesthetics and Criticism.
edited by Berel Lang and Forrest Williams;
University of Colorado,Department of Philosophy.(New York:David Macay, 1972.)

최근 New York 지식인들 New York University의 New School에서도

The followings are the excerpts from the writings by Karl Marx

<...>

Conservative society requires esthetic liberalism whereas, liberal society requires esthetic conservativism.

<...>

A man cannot become a child again unless he becomes childish.
But does he not enjoy the artless ways of the child
and
must he not strive to reproduce its truth on a higher plane?
Is not the character of every epoch revived perfectly true to nature in child nature?
Why should the social childhood of mankind,
where it had obtained its most beautiful development,
not exert an eternal charm as an age that will never return?

There are ill-bred children and precocious children.
Many of the ancient nations belong to the latter class.
The Greeks were normal children.
The charm their art has for us does not conflict with the primitive character of the social order from which it had sprung.
It is rather the product of the latter,
and is rather due to the fact that the unripe social conditions
under which the art arose
and under which alone it could appear can never return.

The followings are the excerpts from the writings by Gyorgy Lukacs(1885-1971);
' Art as Self-Consciousness in Man's Development.'Marxism and Art: writings in Aesthetics and Criticism.
edited by Berel lang and Forrest Williams;
University of Colorado,Department of Philosophy.(New York:David Macay, 1972.)

Georgy Lukacs is noted for his studies of such great novelists of as Scott, Flaubert, Balzaqc, Zola, and Mann.
His major works in English translation include 'History and Class consciousness(1923),
Studies in European Realism(1946) and 'The Historical Novel(1955)'..

...."We have already referred to the fact that the creative personality that figures in the emergence of the work of art
is not simply or immediately identical with its everyday identity;
that the artist's creating demands from him a generalizing on himself,
a movement upward from his particular singularity to aesthetic uniqueness.
We see now that the effectiveness of important works,
at their most striking-
when the formed content is alien in spatio-temporal terms.
or interms of nationality or class-
conveys a broadening and deepening, a transcending of the unmediated everyday individuality.
And above all
in this enrichment of the "I," stands the felicitous experience which genuinely great art provides.

My recollection goes back about 10 years ago.
When I was about to teach at the School of Visual Art in Mahattan.
At that time the number of the students registered in the class were not sufficient.
After the class was cancelled I had to fly to Seoul....
It remains as one of the old unforgettable story as of today.
The point here is
"How do I live without getting balance in life
without losing my will to power? in betweens of such incompatibilities and contradictory situations"?.

To teach or to paint?
What is proposition of life?
What is proposition in art?
if there are any? What away to go?
When the world around me is going on crazy and crazy.
I mean literally in chaos....
^g^.

To me painting is such an act of negating the causalities and temporalities of life.
A Synthesis of Opposites of...Sound, Light, memories dream...It seems one act play on the stage, of making endless works in silence.
